Our Leaders

The principal leaders of our church are the Elders, who are responsible both for oversight (ruling) and exhortation (teaching).  Though between elders there is no difference in authority, our church retains the popular titles of “ruling elder” and “teaching elder” (or “pastor”) in recognition of their different gifts. We look to our ordained Elders for pastoral care, administration of the sacraments, and oversight in training and teaching.  Our Elders lead in the areas of evangelism and growth to spiritual maturity in Christ. PAGE DOWN for a listing of our current Elders.

Like the Elders, the Deacons hold an office in the church that has been ordained by the Holy Spirit in the New Testament church.  We look to the Deacons for leadership in the ministry of mercy and stewardship in the church, and in our community.  Deacons serve under the teaching and oversight of the Elders, assisting administratively in the fulfillment of the church’s ministry.  PAGE DOWN for a listing of our current Deacons.

Our Pastor

Pastor Brad Johnston & FamilyBrad Johnston began teaching and mentoring at TRPC in July 2010. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Pastor Brad has studied overseas (Israel and Scotland), holds a Bachelorís degree in Religious Education from Crossroads Bible College, and a Master of Divinity degree from the Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Before coming to Topeka, he served as pastor of the Walton Reformed Presbyterian Church in upstate New York.

The Lord has given Pastor Brad a deep love for Jesus Christ and his Gospel along with a zeal for ministry in the Church leading to a renewal of American culture. Prior to entering pastoral ministry, Pastor Brad worked as a newspaper journalist for the Citizen-Times (Asheville, NC), The Kokomo Tribune (Kokomo, IN), and the Indianapolis Star (Indianapolis, IN). Pastor Brad currently serves as editor of the denominationís Facebook page, and contributes regularly to the Reformed Presbyterian Witness.

In 2002 Brad married his beautiful wife Sue, and they currently have four children. During their years in Walton, New York, Pastor Brad led his churchís ministry to local 1st-5th graders, and began sponsorship of LifeFOCUS, a week-long intensive discipleship program aimed at high school seniors and college students.

ďOur society has drifted far from the Biblical absolutes that made her strong. My passion is restoring the means of Godís grace Ė like the reading and preaching of Godís Holy Word, the ministry of intercessory prayer, and the Biblical sacraments Ė to prominence in the hearts and minds of Godís people. Christís church simply must be central.Ē ~ Pastor Brad
